Praying on Facebook

On most Thursdays I can be found at the True North Coffee Company.  When I arrive I check in with Foursquare, a·location based social media.  On this particular Thursday I checked in with Facebook so I could tag Pastor Mark Huber, our guest for the day.  I had a feeling he might be the only guest, and so I tried to expand the conversation through social media.  Inspired by a recent conversation with another friend of mine, I simply asked in my post, "For what shall we pray today?"  The responses were beautiful.  There were only six, but their were poignant...

I started us off by praying for people caring for elderly parents. I prayed that because I was sitting next to a middle aged woman having coffee with her elderly mother. ·One person "liked" that. ·It made me wonder if that was part of their life situation as well.··Later, someone prayed for the people of Indonesia. ·Right after that, another person prayed for those caring for loved one's with Alzheimer's Disease. ·Little did that person know (because none of these people know each other), the person who prayed for Indonesia is caring for a parent with Alzheimer's. ·And so, here on Facebook, on this whim of mine, from this coffee shop, complete strangers prayed for another. ·It was a beautiful moment. ·I gathered our prayers and lifted them to God in a traditional way, "O Lord, hear our prayers, and let our cries come to you." ·Amen.
