Facebook and Cake

Posted in Social Media

It's That Easy

Today, with the help of Yelp!, I discovered a great local bakery called La Cascia's, where I found the most amazing German Chocolate Cake that I bought for an upcoming church gathering.

As they were boxing up my gorgeous cake, I noticed this on the bakery counter.

And then, when I took my cake over to the register, I saw this.

I love the the strips of tape spread across these little scraps of paper. ·It's homespun, authentic, and endearing - and, for me, way more effective than any Facebook ad. ·The point is that sometimes we make social media - and connecting with people - harder than they really are. The best way to get people to connect is just to ask, be yourself, and put out the invitation where people are.

So, how are you asking people to connect with you?

Here are some simple ideas:

  • put something in your Sunday bulletin (and anything else you print)
  • be sure to clearly link from the homepage of your website
  • put your social media coordinates in the signature of your emails
  • and on your business cards

What are your ideas? ·How do you ask people to connect with you?
